Buying a Domain Name Using an Escrow Service

Escrow will be the quickest and safest way to conduct the transaction. You may use your favorite service or check out Escrow.com and Transpact.com, where we have accounts.

1: Agree Terms

We both agree on the domain name and purchase price, and that you will pay the escrow fees (it is usual for the buyer to pay the escrow fees to ensure control and security during the payment process.)

2: You Complete the Transaction Details

You sign up with the escrow firm and create a new transaction from within your account.

3: Review and Accept the Terms

Both parties will receive a notification to review and agree to the transaction terms. Check that everything is correct—the domain name, price, and fee arrangement. Once you're satisfied, accept the terms through the platform.

4: Send Your Payment to Escrow

After both parties accept, the escrow firm will provide you with payment instructions. The escrow firm securely holds your money—it will not be sent to us at this stage.

5: The Domain Is Transferred to You

Once the escrow firm verifies they've received your payment, they notify us (the seller) to begin the domain transfer. We will:

* Unlock the domain at our current registrar.

* Obtain an authorization code (also called an EPP code, Auth Code, or Transfer Key.)

* Provide the authorization code to you through the escrow firm's platform.

* Initiate the transfer process.

6: Accept the Domain Transfer at Your Registrar

You will receive the authorization code from us. Log into your domain registrar account (the hosting firm where you want the domain to live) and initiate the incoming transfer using this code. You'll need to approve the transfer request sent to your email address.

7: Tell Escrow You've Received the Domain

Once the domain successfully transfers into your registrar account, log into your escrow account and verify:

* The domain appears in your account.

* You have full administrative control.

* The domain settings are correct.

8: The Escrow Firm Releases Payment

After you confirm acceptance, the escrow firm releases your payment to us. The transaction is complete, and you're now the legally verified registrant and owner of rights to the domain.

Due Diligence

We will presume you have completed all due diligence before you make your offer, but please ensure you have checked that the spelling and TLD suffix of the domain name are exactly as advertised and to your requirements (check the name in lowercase and capitals.) Also, while we have already run our own checks on these investments for the UK, it would be prudent for you to ensure the intended use of your chosen name will not infringe the intellectual property rights, including trademarks, of any person, business, or organisation in your country. Consult an IP specialist for advice should you have any doubts. After transfer, you may wish to register the name/brand as a trademark in your country (and others if required).
